Diabetes educators should make the discussion of pathophysiology a stimulating exploration by using creative strategies to deepen each individual knowledge while respecting their different ways of learning. Integrating short videos, games and creative visual presentations will enhance understanding of diabetes related processes occurring with the development of diabetes and promote an appreciation of the body’s remarkable ability to compensate. Utilization of key messages to people with diabetes in clinical guidelines will facilitate the dialogue about metabolic processes characterizing diabetes.
