quality, decreasing sedentary behaviours and increasing both light and vigorous physical activity [ Grade C, Level 3 ] to prevent type 2 diabetes. • All children with diabetes should have access to an experienced pediatric DHC team and specialized care, starting at diagnosis [ Grade D, Consensus]. • To ensure ongoing and adequate diabetes care, adolescents should receive care from a specialized program aimed at creating a well-prepared and supported transition to adult care that is initiated early and includes a transition coordinator; patient reminders; and support and education promoting autonomy and self-care management skills [Grade C, Level 3]. • Children with obesity should receive intensive healthy behaviour interventions that incorporate family–oriented counselling and behaviour therapy to reduce the risk of diabetes [Grade D, Level 4].
