morning) or overnight BG control, check a 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM BG, not just once, but for a few nights, especially if experiencing unexplained highs in the morning. • The use of rtCGM or isCGM is helpful in assessing day and night control (125,126). • Nightmares, restless sleep, headache on waking, wet pillow or sheets maybe signs of sleeping through a low BG reaction. • Postprandial targets may be helpful when assessing the meal insulin. Assessing postprandial BG control provides information to help the person determine which insulin needs adjusting (the meal insulin or the basal insulin). The goal is to achieve good postprandial BG levels (5.0-10.0 mmol/L) without having lows between meals. • Make an adjustment to one insulin at a time. • Adjust the insulin dose by 1 to 2 units, or 10% of the dose (74).
